Where Waters Meet by Zhang Ling

This book made me learn new words, new geography, new history. I was always searching previous chapters to find the foreshadowing of new events. The depth with which this book is written is part of the charm. One is never sure what will pop out from the pages next. It is hard to put down, emotionally exhausting at times, thoroughly rewarding. I plan to read it a second time, — which is my very rare response to an exceptional book.
