Summer Book Study 2025

Sopheap Pich began experimenting with printing when he returned to his birth county, Cambodia. He used available materials. He cut some materials in half and made impressions on paper which he “appreciated as having a quality not related to his hand but unique to the [material] itself” (Imprint, You are an Artist by S. G. Urist).*
Assigned to create an imprint (and not able to leave my desk at the time) this is an acrylic block with rubberbands stretched around it, then pressed on a stamp pad and placed on a blank page from the class syllabus in a random pattern.
After taking a photo of the page with my iPhone, I sent it to an iPad and continued with some other experiments; hence analog + digital.
*Idaho Art Education Association is using “You Are An Artist” by Sarah Urist Green for this summer’s book study.
